BUSINESS
Accounting 1-Financial Accounting (10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)
This exciting course introduces students to the concepts of financial accounting including the completion of the accounting cycle, preparation of the financial statements, and detailed coverage of cash, receivables, inventory, fixed assets and liabilities.  This course is being offered with direct credit to Baker College (4 credits) with the completion of the course with a grade of 83% or better.  Completion of two terms of accounting also articulates with Jackson College.  Please see the Michigan Transfer Network for credit transfer guidelines.   Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills. Instructor prior approval required if in 10th grade.


 Accounting 2-Managerial Accounting (10, 11, 12)
(1 Trimester)


This course introduces students to the concepts of managerial accounting, including financial statement analysis, job order costing, budgeting, cost-volume-profit analysis, and use of other managerial decision-making tools.  This course is being offered with direct credit to Baker College (4 credits) with the completion of the course with a grade of 83% or better.  Completion of two terms of accounting also articulates with Jackson College.  Please see the Michigan Transfer Network for credit transfer guidelines. Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills and ACC1.  Instructor prior approval required if in 10th grade.

Computer Tech and Trades (9) (1 Trimester)
This is a required freshmen class that will enhance students' abilities to use computer programs and technology while completing their high school education.  The class will focus on 21st Century Skills including advanced concepts in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Internet based freeware and Career research, and integration of these programs to develop high quality student portfolios.  It will place an emphasis on not only exploring several careers, but also on learning about the necessary skills, education, experience and training to be SUCCESSFUL in specific careers.  Activities in this class include assessments of individual skills and interests, guest speakers, meeting people in different careers, and internet-based research.  Students will set up an online portfolio in class that they will update throughout their High School career when it will be their Capstone ePortfolio upon graduation. This class is required for all freshmen.

 
Introduction to Business (10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)
    
Introduction to Business is the introductory business course that provides the framework for future business courses. This core course provides a basic understanding of many aspects of business through an overview of the  changing business environment, the roles of small businesses, entrepreneurs, and the importance of customer relations, management, and marketing.  Financial management, accounting and banking will also be discussed.  This course is being offered with direct credit to Baker College (4 credits) with the completion of the course with a grade of 83% or better and articulates with Jackson College.  Please see the Michigan Transfer Network for credit transfer guidelines.  Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills.

Mobile Application Development (10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)

In this 12 week course students will learn to write apps for cell phones.  The course will introduce object oriented computer programming to students.  After programming basics are covered students will then learn the process for creation of mobile applications.  By the end of the term students will create custom applications that can be installed on their own mobile devices.  This class will focus on the creation of applications for the Android operating system.  Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills.

Personal Finance (10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)
This class will expose students to personal financial management and budgeting strategies.  This will include research and investment strategies, discussions on credit and interest, and other financial matters.  Provides a balanced exposure to development and understanding the various aspects involved in managing one’s personal finance.  This course is being offered with direct credit to Baker College (4 credits) with the completion of the course with a grade of 83% or better and articulates with Jackson College.  Please see the Michigan Transfer Network for credit transfer guidelines.  Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills.

Personal Finance-Financial Peace Academy (9, 10, 11, 12)
(1 Trimester)

 
As an alternative to College Direct Credit, this Personal Finance course is offered only for high school credit, and provides valuable real life explanations of essential Personal Finance skills through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace high school program.  It is essential that students have this knowledge as they move on to the “real” world, and students are encouraged to take at least one of the Personal Finance options before they graduate!!!

Web Animation/Multimedia Creation (10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)
Students will work with Adobe Flash to learn animation basic principles. Students will be introduced to key frame animation, basic tweening, sound and video integration, as well as basic Actionscripting programming.  Also students will use all available tools to learn how to create multimedia presentations.  Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills.

Web Graphics - Image Editing (10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)
In this course students will work with professional image editing software. An emphasis will be placed on creating images for web pages. Creating images for print and multi-media productions will also be covered. During the 12 week course students will work with Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, and various open source image editing software. Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills.

Web Page Design (Creating Web Sites with Word and Dreamweaver):   (9, 10, 11, 12) (1 Trimester)
In this course, students will be exposed to various techniques in web page design and creation. Students will work on the techniques and skills required to create web pages. Topics in this class will be HTML programming, Graphic Creation, and Critical web design technique. Students will leave the course with enough knowledge of web design elements that they will be able to develop their own professional and personal web sites.  Prerequisite: Must have successfully completed Computers Skills 1.  Pre-requisite: Must have successfully completed Computer Skills.
